We'd love your help.
We are always looking for new members to help with our salmon rearing project, and our annual fundraisers, or just to be a part of the group and follow our progress.
Here's how.
Become a member.
A membership sub of $5.00 is required to become a member. This is a mandatory requirement under the Constitution. Contact us to join, and we'll sign you up for our newsletter so you can stay up to date with what we're doing.Fundraise.
Our primary annual fundraiser is chopping and selling firewood. We also help set up the Poultry Show in Oamaru and collect old lead batteries. You can help by collecting them on our behalf, or if you have any that we can utilize, please contact us, and we will arrange for their collection.Trap salmon.
We no longer conduct this activity because we are unable to catch sufficient fish to supply eggs to our incubation facility. We now operate a brood stock rearing facility for egg and milt raising purposes. With this ability, we can increase the number of fish required for release.Tag salmon.
This is a fun day, and we need a lot of helpers. This is a family occasion and is a fun activity.Donate.
We accept donations here.Verify any fin-clipped salmon you catch.
Should you catch a fin-clipped salmon in the Waitaki River, please take the fish to either Oamaru Sports and Outdoors, the Glenavy Hotel, or Waimate Outdoors. The fish will be verified, and a scale sample will be taken. This information is essential to our organisation, as it is the only way we can validate our results. Please have your fin-clipped fish verified by an independent person and photographed clearly showing the clipped fin, and you will be entered into a draw for one of up to five prizes of a Sports voucher to the value of $100.
